Here in North Carolina, the law states, that the maximum fees that may be charged by a notary for notarial acts are as follows: (1) For acknowledgments, jurats, verifications or proofs, ten dollars ($10.00) per notarized principal signature. The Notary Signing Agent is a specialist in loan document signing. Notary Signing Agents gain with time a working knowledge of mortgage loans, loan terms and the various documents contained in loan document packages. Notary Signing Agents help the borrower execute their loan documents pertaining to signatures, initials, and completing some information within documents when required. A Notary Signing Agent cannot give legal advice.

A notary public is a person of proven integrity, appointed and commissioned by State government as a public officer whose function is to perform notarial acts as an impartial witness, verifying that a person is who he or she claims to be, and that the person is in the presence of the notary. Notaries will complete acknowledgments and/or affidavits and administer oaths, especially when handling property titles, grants, deeds and any power of attorney.
