  • What is an Advance Healthcare Directive?
    Advance Health Care Directives are legal documents in which you give written instructions about your health care if, in the future, you cannot speak for yourself.

    A health care power of attorney. A declaration of a desire for a natural death. An advance instruction for mental health treatment. A declaration of an anatomical gift.

  • How should I prepare for my Notary appointment?
    Please ensure any required witnesses, principal, and agent are available, aware, and ready to sign. All parties must have valid, unexpired, government issued photo id for proper verification. If notary appointment cannot be completed due to the absense or preparedness of any parties, the travel fee is still due to the notary.
  • Can you (as the Notary) give me advice or help me fill out the documents?
    A notary public who is not an attorney licensed to practice law in this State is prohibited from rendering any service that constitutes the unauthorized practice of law. A non attorney notary shall not assist another person in drafting, completing, selecting, or understanding a record or transaction requiring a notarial act.
  • What are your fees?
    Here in North Carolina, the law states, that the maximum fees that may be charged by a notary for notarial acts are as follows: (1) For acknowledgments, jurats, verifications or proofs, ten dollars ($10.00) per notarized principal signature.   • What is a Signing Agent?
    The Notary Signing Agent is a specialist in loan document signing. Notary Signing Agents gain with time a working knowledge of mortgage loans, loan terms and the various documents contained in loan document packages. Notary Signing Agents help the borrower execute their loan documents pertaining to signatures, initials, and completing some information within documents when required. A Notary Signing Agent cannot give legal advice.
  • What is a Notary Public?
    A notary public is a person of proven integrity, appointed and commissioned by State government as a public officer whose function is to perform notarial acts as an impartial witness, verifying that a person is who he or she claims to be, and that the person is in the presence of the notary. Notaries will complete acknowledgments and/or affidavits and administer oaths, especially when handling property titles, grants, deeds and any power of attorney. A notary is considered a "public official" and, as such, is held personally liable for any fraud or negligence in the performance of the duties of the office and is also, therefore, subject to legal prosecution. A notary is not licensed to practice law and may not, under any circumstances, give legal advice.
